CHANCE now offers a four-week clinic to help victims prepare for the battle ahead of them. Knowledge is power so join us and learn more about how to protect against revictimization.

Lessons provided are practical application exercises to enhance awareness and empowerment.

Topics covered:

(1) Legal counsel: show victims how to find a lawyer who is adept to the issues of domestic violence; and tell them what organization to use to assure their rights as victims remain intact.

(2) Judicial: coach victims on presentation skills to acculturate to courtroom environment.

(3) Safety: draw attention to the critical danger involved in domestic violence; provide a safety plan to increase the victims chance of survival against the perpetrator.

(4) Awareness: educate victims on the dynamics of domestic abuse, show the signals and process that batterers use to control their victims before, during and after the relationship ends.

(5) Family issues: teach victims about the impact family violence has on child development; they learn techniques to help their children through the divorce process.

(6) Empowerment: teach victims how to physically protect their rights to build their confidence and help them prepare emotionally for the legal battle.
